王子复仇记11—大野狼与七只小羊-3

After a while Mother Goat returned home from the forest. Ah! what a scene it was for her! The house door was wide open. Tables, chairs, and stools were upset. The washtub was broken into pieces. She looked for her children.

At last she found the youngest kid in the clock case. She left the house and the little kid followed her. As they crossed the meadow, they saw the wolf. He was lying under a tree and snoring loudly.

Mother Goat examined him on all sides, and saw something moving in his stomach. "Ah!" she said, "if he only swallowed my dear children, they might still be alive."

So she sent the little kid into the house for a pair of scissors, a needle, and some thread. She began to cut open the wolf's stomach very quickly.

As soon as she cut him open, a little kid stretched out his head, and then a second, and a third sprang out as she continued cutting. All six were safe and alive. They jumped for joy around their mother.

Then their mother said to them, "We will fill his stomach with some large pebbles while he is sleeping. So go and bring me some."

The seven little kids went to the brook and brought back as many stones as they could carry. With these they filled the stomach of the wolf. Then Mother Goat sewed it up again.

When the wolf awoke and stretched out his legs, he felt very heavy and uncomfortable. As the stones in his stomach made him very thirsty, he got up and went to the brook to drink.

As he walked along, the stones rattled in his stomach. When he came to the brook and stooped over to drink, the weight of the stones in his stomach knocked him off balance. He fell in and drowned.

The little kids and their mother ran over towards the brook when they heard the splash. Then they danced around their mother for joy. They cried out, "The wolf is dead. The wolf is dead." And this was the end of the greedy wolf.

过了不久，羊妈妈从森林里回来。哎呀！她看到的是一幅什幺景象啊！房门大开着，桌子，椅子和凳子被弄得乱七八糟。洗衣盆破成碎片。她开始找她的孩子们。

最后，她在时钟里找到她最小的孩子。她离开房子，小羊跟着她。当他们越过草地时，看见了大野狼。他正躺在树下睡觉，大声地打鼾。

羊妈妈很仔细地检查他全身，发现他的肚子里有东西在动。她说：『哦！如果他只是吞下我的孩子，那他们很可能还活着。』

于是她便叫小羊回去拿剪刀和针线。她开始很快地剪开大野狼的肚子。

当她一剪开他的肚子时，一只小羊伸出他的头来。当她继续剪着时，第二只、第三只跟着跳出来。六只小羊都很平安地活着。他们快乐地围在羊妈妈身边跳来跳去。

然后羊妈妈告诉他们说：『我们要趁他在睡觉的时候，把大石头装进他的肚子里。所以去找一些石头来给我。』

七只小羊便到河边去，带回他们所能拿得动的石头。他们把这些石头填满了大野狼的肚子。然后羊妈妈又把他的肚子缝合起来。

当大野狼醒过来伸懒腰时，他觉得非常沉重而不舒服。因为他肚子里的石头让他觉得很渴，他便起身到河边去喝水。

当他走在路上时，石头在他的肚子里嘎嘎作响。当他来到河边，弯下身去喝水时，他肚子里石头的重量使他失去平衡。于是他便掉到河里淹死了。

小羊和他们的妈妈听到落水声便跑到河边去。然后他们围着羊妈妈高兴得手舞足蹈起来，他们大叫道：『大野狼死了。大野狼死了。』这就是贪心大野狼的下场。
