狼和苍鹭

One day a wolf swallowed a bone because he ate his dinner too fast. It stuck in his throat and pained him very much. So he tried to get it out, but could not. Just then he saw a heron passing by.

　　"Dear friend," he said to the heron, "there is a bone sticking in my throat. You have a wonderfully long neck. Can you pull it out? I will pay you well for it."

　　"I'll try," said the heron.

　　Then he put his head into the wolf's mouth with its sharp teeth, and pulled out the bone.

　　"Oh, what luck!" said the wolf. "I am glad it is out. I must be more careful from now on."

　　"I will go now, if you will pay me," said the heron. "Pay you? Indeed?" cried the wolf. "Be thankful that your head was not bitten off when it was in a wolf's mouth. You should be contented with that."

　　某日，一匹狼因为晚餐吃得太快而吞了一根骨头。骨头哽在他的喉咙，使他很痛苦。因此他设法把它弄出来，但却没有办法。就在那时，他看见一只苍鹭经过。
　　他对苍鹭说：『亲爱的朋友，有一根骨头哽在我的喉咙。你有很长的脖子。你能把骨头拔出来吗？我会好好报答你的。』

　　苍鹭说：『我试试看。』
　　于是他把头伸进长着利齿的狼嘴里，并拔出了骨头。

　　『哦，太好了！』这狼说道：『真高兴它出来了。从现在起，我一定要小心一点。』
　　苍鹭说：『你快报答我吧，我现在要走了。』『报答你？确定吗？』狼叫道。『你该庆幸你的头在狼嘴里时没被咬掉。你应当为此感到满足了。』
