蝙蝠，鸟类和野兽

There was once a fierce war between the birds and the beasts.

　　The bat kept away from the battle, and when he thought the beasts would win the battle, he went among them. When they saw him, they said, "Oh, you are a bird. We'll eat you　up."

　　"No, no," said the bat. "Look at my body covered with fur, and look at my mouth with sharp teeth."

　　After a few days, there was a second battle. This time the birds seemed to win. And then the bat flew over to the birds. One of the birds said, "You are a beast. I must kill you."

　　"No, no," said the bat. "I am not a beast. I am a bird. Look at my wings. I can fly."

　　After several battles, the birds and the beasts became friends again. But they did not trust the bat at all. And to this day the bat is ashamed to show himself in the daytime. He now lives in caves and corners, and only flits about in the dark evening when neither birds nor beasts can find him.

　　『不，不，』蝙蝠说。『我不是野兽，我是一只鸟。看看我的翅膀，我可以飞翔。』

　　经过几场战斗后，鸟类和野兽又成为朋友了。但他们一点都不信任蝙蝠了。一直到今天，蝙蝠都羞于在白天出现。他现在都住在洞穴和角落里，而且只在黑夜当鸟类和野兽都找不到他时，他才会飞来飞去。
