狗和影子

A dog stole a piece of meat from a butcher's shop and ran out into the fields with it. He was going to eat it all by himself at home. On his way home he came to a narrow bridge over a stream. While he was crossing it, he looked into the stream below, and saw his own shadow in the water.

　　He thought it was another dog with a bigger piece of meat than his. So he made up his mind to get it, too. He opened his mouth and barked at the shadow. The meat dropped from his mouth into the water. He at once jumped into the water with a splash. But he could not find another dog anywhere. He lost his shadow in the water¢wand his valuable piece of meat, too.

　　一只狗从屠夫的店铺里偷了一块肉，咬着它跑到田野里去。他准备要在家里独自享用。在回家的路上，他来到一条跨越在小河上的窄桥。他在过桥时，往下面的小河里望去，看见了水中自己的影子。
　　他以为那是另外一只狗，嘴里还咬着一块比他的还大块的肉。于是他决定也要得到它。他张嘴对着影子吠了起来。那块肉就从他嘴里掉进了水中。他立刻跳进水里，溅起一阵水花。但他到处都找不到另外一只狗。他失去了水中自己的影子， 也失去了他那宝贵的一块肉。
