格列佛游记——大人国游记-1

I stayed with my wife and family for two months and then I made another voyage. I took a ship named Adventure.

　　We were at sea in the Adventure for a few months. But one day we met with a big storm. The strong wind blew the ship off course, and we were lost.

　　After a few weeks we saw dry land. I got into a little boat with twelve men and got to the shore. We wanted some fresh water to drink.

　　I left the other men and went to look for some water by myself.

　　When I returned, they were already in the boat and were rowing very fast back to the ship. Then I saw a huge giant running after them. He tried to catch the men in the boat and they only just got away.

　　I was very surprised and ran into the fields. Everything was very big. The grass was as tall as I. Suddenly another giant found me. He picked me up, took me to a very big house, and showed me to his master.

　　His master was a rich farmer in Brobdingnag, the land of the giants. He had a daughter who was called Glumdalclitch in their language, or "Little Nurse."

　　She was about nine years old. They sat around me to look at me carefully. They spoke to me. How loud their voices were! I couldn't understand them at all.

　　The farmer made a big box and put me inside it and told his daughter to take care of me. She was very kind to me. She was very fond of sewing and washing. She sometimes made shirts for me. And sometimes she taught me the language of the country. I learned a lot of words in a few days.

　　One day they took me to the town. When we got to an inn, the farmer went inside and put my box on a big table. I walked out of my box and stood on the table. All the giants laughed at me because I was so small.

　　The farmer was very greedy. He told me to work hard for him. He was going to take me to Lorbrugrud, the capital city of Brobdingnag. He thought that he could get a lot of money from the giants who would come to look at me. We rode on a huge horse. Grumdalclitch carried me in my box. On our way to the capital the farmer sometimes performed some shows. It took us about ten weeks to get to the capital.

　　After we arrived in the city, my master showed me to many more giants. I talked and walked about on a table. I had to work hard to satisfy a lot of people so that they might give money to the farmer.

　　我和妻子及家人共处了两个月，我又开始了另一趟航行。我搭的船是『探险号』。

　　我们乘『探险号』航行了几个月。但有一天遇上了大暴风雨。强风把船只吹离了航道，我们迷失了方向。

　　几个礼拜后我们看到了陆地。我和十二个人登上一条小船上岸。我们想找一些淡水喝。

　　我离开了其它人，自己去找水喝。
　　我回来时，他们已在船上而且正很快地划回大船。接着我看到一个巨人在追赶他们。他企图抓住船上这些人，他们却在千钧一发之际逃走了。

　　我大吃一惊便往田野中跑去。一切东西都很巨大。草和我一样高。突然间另外一个巨人发现了我。他把我捧了起来，带到一间大房子里，给他的主人看。
　　他的主人是柏汀南巨人国的富农。他有个女儿叫葛兰朵克丽琪，这是巨人国语，也就是『小护士』之意。她大约九岁。他们坐在我周围仔细地观察我。他们对我说话。他们的声音好大哟！我一点也不懂他们说些什幺。

　　那农夫做了一个大箱子，将我放在里面，并叫他的女儿照顾我。她对我非常好。她很喜欢缝纫和清洗的工作。她有时做衬衫给我穿。有时她教我巨人国语。几天后我学了很多话。
　　有一天他们带我到城里去。我们到了一家小酒馆时，农夫走进去，将我的箱子放在大桌子上。我走出箱子站在桌子上。所有的巨人都笑我，因为我好小。

　　那农夫很贪婪。他要我为他卖力工作。他即将带我到巨人国首都劳布洛古鲁德去。他认为他可以从来看我的巨人手中赚到很多钱。我们骑在大马上，葛兰朵克丽琪则抱着装我的箱子。在到首都的路上，有时农夫做一些秀。我们花了约十个星期才到首都。

　　到达该城后，我的主人把我现给很多其它的巨人看。我在桌上边说话边走动。我必须卖力演出以满足许多人，这样他们就会给农夫钱。
