I lived in Brobdingnag for two years and this is how I got away.

　　One day the king and queen went on a long journey. They went to the south coast of the land. Glumdalclitch and some servants went with them. Of course I was carried in my box.

　　We stayed for a few days in a city near the sea. Then Glumdalclitch and I were very tired. She had a bad cold and went to bed.

　　I wanted to look at the sea. I thought this was my last chance to get away.

　　I said to one of the servants, "Please take me to the seashore because I want to breathe fresh air."

　　The servant picked up my box and carried it to the seashore. I looked at the sea out of the small window and said to the servant, "Let me sleep here for a while, and I'll get well soon."

　　The servant shut the door of my box and went away to look for some bird's eggs. I soon fell asleep.

　　Suddenly I woke up. I felt something lifting my box into the air. I looked out of the window and saw nothing but the clouds and sky. I heard fluttering sounds. "An eagle is holding my box in its beak," I thought. The eagle flew a long way over the sea.

　　Then it let go of my box and the box fell into the sea. There was a big splash.

　　My box floated on the sea for a few hours. Then the box struck something hard. I thought it had to be a rock. I stood still for a minute and I heard people talking. My box struck a ship.

　　"Is there anybody inside?" a man shouted.

　　"Yes. Please let me out," I cried.

　　The ship's carpenter made a hole in the top of my box. Then he put a ladder into the hole, and I could climb onto the ship. The ship was sailing for England. The sailors asked me a lot of questions.

　　After a few months' voyage, I returned to my wife and family. They were very pleased to see me back safe and sound.

　　我在巨人国住了两年，以下是我如何逃离的经过：

　　有一天皇帝和皇后去长途旅行。他们到该国的南部海岸去。葛兰朵克丽琪和一些仆人与他们同行。当然我也被携带在箱子里。

　　我们待在靠海的一座城市好几天。那时葛兰朵克丽琪和我都很累。她患了重感冒便睡觉去了。

　　我想去看海。我想这是我最后逃走的机会。

　　我对其中一名仆人说：『请带我到海边，因为我想呼吸点新鲜空气。』

　　那仆人拿起我的箱子，带到海边去。我从小窗户看着海，便对仆人说：『让我在这儿睡一会儿，我很快就会好起来。』

　　那仆人关上我箱子的门，就离开去找鸟蛋。不久我就睡着了。

　　突然间我醒过来。我感觉有东西把我的箱子提到空中。我往窗外看，除了云和天空外没看到别的东西。我听到翅膀鼓动声。我在想：『有一只老鹰正衔着我的箱子。』那只老鹰在海面上飞了好长一段距离。

　　后来它丢下我的箱子，箱子就掉到海里，水花四溅。

　　我的箱子在海上漂浮了几小时，然后撞上坚硬的东西。我想一定是岩石。我静静地站了一会儿，这时听到有人说话。我的箱子撞上了船。

　　有个人大叫：『有人在里面吗？』

　　我叫道：『有。请让我出来。』

　　船上的木匠在我的箱子顶上钻了一个洞。然后他放下一个梯子到洞里来，好让我爬上船。这条船正航向英格兰。水手问了我许多问题。

　　航行了几月后，我回到我的妻子和家人身边。他们很高兴见到我安然归来。
